Product Description:
The 8EI8X8HWS10.0100-1 produced by B&R Automation is a servo drive module in the 8EI Servo Drives series. As part of the ACOPOS P3 platform, it supplies controlled three-phase power and converts controller commands with encoder feedback into precise motor currents for automated equipment. Rather than serving as a simple power stage, it actively regulates motor output so axis motion remains stable during acceleration, steady running, and deceleration. This role suits assembly stations, conveyors, and robotic tooling where predictable speed and position response are required through repeated production cycles.
The module operates from a 3x 200-480 VAC supply and can deliver 8.8 Aeff continuously for mid-range servomotors that need sustained torque. This wide input range allows the same drive concept to be used on different industrial mains systems without changing the basic control approach. Safe Torque Off is provided through hardwired STO safety technology with encoder, so motor phase power is removed by discrete wiring rather than software commands. The unit is designed for wall mounting, and signal and power connections use Connector Set 2 (2-row) for organized cabinet wiring. The single-row set is not included, and no internal braking resistor is installed, so rapid deceleration requires external energy-dump hardware when regenerated energy cannot be absorbed elsewhere in the system.
The delivered unit is a 1-axis module, so one drive section is assigned to one controlled motor channel within the cabinet. It has a standard configuration with no module-specific option, which means the cooling arrangement and fieldbus interfaces follow the baseline platform layout rather than a customized build. The front cover and plug-in module slot are omitted, which keeps the housing layout consistent with the standard version. The standard arrangement also leaves out module-specific front add-ons or expansion cards on the face of the drive. That approach keeps the external form factor predictable where the same drive family is used across multiple machines and cabinet designs.
