The 8EI8X8HWDS0.0000-1 is a servo drive manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8EI Servo Drives series within the ACOPOS P3 8EI platform. Supplied as a power electronics module, it uses digital encoder feedback to manage closed-loop motion in factory equipment. By regulating the current delivered to each connected motor, the drive provides precise axis control for conveyors, pick-and-place devices, and other industrial automation systems. Its multi-axis design allows coordinated motors to operate from one compact module while receiving synchronized commands from a central controller.
The power stage accepts a three-phase 200–480 VAC supply and delivers a continuous phase current of 8.8 A RMS per channel. Short-term current can reach 24 A RMS to support load acceleration, while the total electrical output can reach 10 kW. Carrier pulses switch at a nominal frequency of 5 kHz to reduce torque ripple during motor operation. The maximum output frequency is 598 Hz, supporting motors used in high-speed applications. An external brake circuit can be connected because the unit does not contain an internal braking resistor. The brake output supplies 1.3 A at a switching frequency of 0.5 Hz and requires a resistance of at least 25 Ω. Trigger inputs detect 7 mA logic signals, and the wall-mounted design supports installation inside a control cabinet.
The drive is configured as a two-axis module and uses the Standard module option. It is supplied without a plug-in option card or front cover. Machine wiring connects through the included single-row connector set, while a two-row connector set is not included. Two encoder ports support cable lengths of up to 75 m and a combined current load of 300 mA. Integrated functional safety is provided by SafeMOTION, which monitors position through digital encoder feedback. Real-time communication uses a POWERLINK V2 Controlled Node interface operating at 100 Mbit/s. This interface provides synchronized data exchange between the drive and the central motion controller during coordinated axis operation.
