Product Description:
8EI8X8HWD10.0700-1 is a servo drive unit produced by B & R Automation for the 8EI Servo Drives series. It belongs to the ACOPOS P3 8EI product line and regulates torque and speed for multiple synchronous motors in automated machinery. Supplied as an electronic power stage, the drive converts three-phase mains power into controlled output waveforms. This conversion allows a machine controller to coordinate motion across several axes while independently managing the connected motors.
The device is supplied as a 2-axis module, so two motor windings can be energized independently within one housing. Each axis can provide up to 8.8 A RMS of continuous current, indicating the steady load that the drive’s power semiconductors can support without thermal derating. Input power must remain within 3 × 200–480 VAC, allowing the unit to operate with a broad range of industrial mains supplies. An internal braking resistor absorbs regenerated energy during rapid deceleration, reducing the need for an external braking resistor with moderate-inertia loads. Functional safety is provided by hardwired STO safety technology with encoder monitoring. Removal of the enable signal places both outputs in a torque-free state, while the encoder channel provides motion feedback to the control system.
The housing supports wall mounting, allowing installation at the rear of a cabinet without unnecessarily obstructing airflow around adjacent equipment. An included sealed front cover protects the signal connectors and DIP switches from accidental contact. Field wiring is routed through a 2-row connector set, which organizes the required power, feedback, and control connections in a compact arrangement. The dual-axis layout reduces the cabinet space required for applications that would otherwise need two separate drive units. Its shared housing also allows both controlled axes to be positioned within the same electrical assembly while retaining independent motor outputs.
