Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the 8EI4X5MWSS0.0700-1 servo drive for the 8EI Servo Drives series. Within the ACOPOS P3 8EI servo drive family, this module provides closed-loop current and velocity regulation for permanent-magnet motors used on pick-and-place gantries, conveyors, and format-change axes. By integrating pulse-width-modulated power electronics and safety monitoring in one housing, the product streamlines axis control in distributed industrial automation architectures. This arrangement helps the drive respond quickly to load changes while keeping motor operation stable during acceleration, deceleration, and low-speed positioning. It is well suited for machine sections where cabinet space is limited and axis electronics need to be placed close to the motor.
Its continuous output rating is 4.5 Aeff, which is the maximum root-mean-square phase current the inverter can supply indefinitely without exceeding its thermal design. Supply flexibility is achieved through an input of 3 x 200-230 VAC or single-phase 110-230 VAC, so the same drive can be wired to three-phase plant power or to a temporary single-phase source. Integrated functional safety is provided by SafeMOTION, which uses encoder feedback to support safe torque off, limited speed, and position monitoring directly in the drive. The hardware delivered for this model is a 1-axis module, so one set of IGBT bridges and current sensors is assigned to a single motor. This layout keeps the control resources dedicated to one axis and supports isolated tuning for the connected motor.
Dynamic stopping energy is absorbed by an internal braking resistor, which removes the need for a separate external resistor and reduces panel wiring. Physical attachment uses wall mounting, allowing heat to dissipate directly to the enclosure back plate. Service connections route through a front-access 2-row connector set, which keeps signal and power conductors keyed and strain-relieved. Front access also helps simplify cable routing in shallow enclosures and keeps connectors reachable without removing the unit from the mounting surface.
