Product Description:
The 8EI4X5HWS10.0100-1 is a servo drive module from B&R Automation in the 8EI Servo Drives series. As part of the ACOPOS P3 product line, it provides closed-loop control for synchronous or induction motors used in pick-and-place systems, packaging machinery, and other multi-axis equipment. By converting incoming three-phase mains power into regulated motor currents, the unit supports precise torque and speed control during coordinated machine motion. This operating approach is used in automation cells where repeatable axis coordination is more important than simple open-loop speed control.
This unit can supply a continuous output of 4.5 A RMS, which is the sustained phase current available during operation. The power section accepts 3x 200–480 VAC, so the same drive can be used across a broad range of industrial mains systems. For risk reduction, it includes Hardwired STO safety technology with encoder, which removes torque-producing energy while keeping position feedback available for diagnostic functions. The module is intended for wall mounting, and it is supplied as a 1-axis module for single-motor applications. This layout suits compact cabinet arrangements where one drive channel is assigned to one motor and direct panel installation is preferred.
Signal routing uses a 2-row connector set, while the 1-row variant is not populated and leaves more clearance for cable bends at the front of the unit. The drive has no internal braking resistor, so regenerative energy from decelerating loads must be handled by an external resistor or returned to the DC bus. The order code indicates standard hardware delivered without a front cover or plug-in option. Cabinet planning therefore needs a separate braking path when the application produces frequent regenerative peaks during rapid stopping cycles.
