Product Description:
The 8EI4X5HWS10.0000-1 is an ACOPOS P3 servo drive module from B&R Automation that belongs to the 8EI Servo Drives series. Supplied as a wall-mounted, single-axis unit, it connects a three-phase power supply to a compatible motor and uses closed-loop encoder feedback to provide precise torque and speed control. The drive is suitable for packaging lines, material-handling axes, and pick-and-place gantries. Integrated hardwired STO safety allows the drive to bring motion to a safe state when a monitored circuit opens, while encoder feedback supports accurate motion control during normal operation.
Rated for supply lines of 3x 200–480 VAC, the drive maintains regulated output while delivering a continuous phase current of 4.5 A RMS. A momentary inrush limit of 45 A reduces stress on upstream protective devices as the internal DC link charges. The DC bus has a capacitance of 470 µF, which stores energy to help the drive handle brief load transients. The power stage operates with a nominal switching frequency of 5 kHz, balancing switching losses with dynamic response. At these operating levels, the electrical installation must accommodate 5 kVA of apparent power, while the drive consumes 11.8 W when idle. These values support appropriate power distribution and cabinet thermal planning without changing the module’s wall-mounted installation arrangement.
Peak mechanical output reaches 5 kW, enabling short acceleration periods while motor current can rise to 12.25 A RMS without exceeding the stated thermal limit. The inverter can produce output frequencies up to 598 Hz, supporting high-speed spindles and linear motors that require rapid positioning. A braking chopper is included, but the housing does not contain an internal braking resistor. An external resistor must absorb a continuous braking current of 1.3 A across the stated 0.25 Ω path. Communication with external controllers occurs through Ethernet POWERLINK at a data rate of 100 Mbit/s, allowing real-time command and status exchange for coordinated machine motion.
