Product Description:
The 8EI4X5HWD10.N600-1 servo drive is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the 8EI Servo Drives series in the ACOPOS P3 8EI product line. As a compact AC multi-axis controller, it converts three-phase mains power into regulated output currents for synchronous and induction motors. In automated cells, it closes the torque, speed, and position loops while sharing the DC bus with neighboring axes, which helps reduce cabinet depth and cabling compared with separate single-axis drives. It also supports hardwired STO safety and analog encoder expansion for applications that require safe shutdown and additional feedback channels.
Electrically, the module is delivered as a 2-axis module, so one housing can control two motor channels from a shared power section. During continuous duty, it supplies 4.5 Aeff, and the DC link includes 470 µF of capacitance to smooth energy flow during load changes and regeneration. An internal braking resistor dissipates surplus power, while the inrush circuit limits startup current to 45 A to reduce stress during power-up. Motor windings can be driven up to 598 Hz, which supports demanding high-speed motor applications. The installed load is rated at 10 kVA, so the supply section can be matched to the expected power demand.
The unit stands 374 mm tall and is 66 mm wide, and it is intended for wall mounting behind a protective front cover. The hardwired STO safety circuit with encoder support is included, and the analog multi-encoder plug-in board provides three feedback channels for additional sensor connections. Encoder cable runs can reach 100 m, which allows cabinets to be placed farther from moving machine sections when required. A nominal switching frequency of 5 kHz balances switching performance and audible noise, and the power stage accepts supplies from 3×200–480 VAC through the fitted connector set.
