Product Description:
The 8EI2X2MWS10.0400-1 from B&R Automation is a servo drive module in the 8EI Servo Drives series and the ACOPOS P3 8EI servo drive product group. It functions as the power and control stage for a synchronous motor in industrial automation. The module supplies regulated motor current while monitoring commands and operating conditions through its integrated control electronics. When connected to a centralized controller, it executes precise velocity, torque, and position commands for automated machinery. Its compact format allows it to fit within a coordinated drive stack installed inside an enclosed electrical cabinet.
The unit is a 1-axis module with a continuous phase current of 2.2 Aeff for the connected motor. Its input range of 3× 200–230 VAC or 1× 110–230 VAC supports either three-phase factory power or single-phase service power. An internal braking resistor dissipates regenerated energy during deceleration, reducing the need for an external resistor when controlling moderate-inertia loads. The module uses wall mounting for secure placement within the cabinet. It is supplied without a front cover because its open-frame housing is intended to remain inside a protected enclosure. No plug-in module is included, and the two-row field terminal block identified as connector set 2 is omitted from this configuration.
The module includes hardwired STO safety technology that removes motor torque when the safety circuit is activated. This function provides a direct shutdown path during an emergency stop without requiring the controller to generate a normal motion command. A 1-row connector set is provided for control wiring, allowing organized termination of the required conductors. The connector arrangement maintains separation between logic wiring and the power connections used by the motor and input supply. Because the housing lacks a front cover, installation must provide an enclosure that prevents accidental contact with energized components and protects the drive from contaminants. Cabinet airflow and required clearances should remain unobstructed so heat from the power electronics and braking resistor can dissipate during operation.
