Product Description:
B&R Automation manufactures the 8EI2X2HWD10.0700-1 servo drive as part of the 8EI Servo Drives series. This multi-axis controller provides coordinated motion for industrial machinery that requires compact electronics and synchronized interpolation. Its power electronics convert three-phase mains power into regulated motor current for precise torque, speed, and position control. Power conversion, safety inputs, and encoder interfaces are combined in one housing, making the drive suitable for pick-and-place units, packaging stations, and small robots where cabinet space and axis density are important.
The delivered configuration is a 2-axis module, allowing two motors to be controlled independently from one power section without external splitters. Each channel can sustain a continuous current of 2.2 Aeff, helping connected motors remain within their thermal limits during steady-state operation. The input stage accepts a three-phase 200–480 VAC supply, allowing operation on plant power systems ranging from low-voltage 208 V grids to 480 V facilities. Personnel and machine protection are supported by hardwired STO safety technology with encoder feedback, which removes torque-producing energy when the hardwired safety circuit opens. Regenerated energy from moderate-inertia loads is dissipated through an internal braking resistor, reducing the need for a separate external braking module during deceleration.
The drive uses a 2-row connector set that groups control, encoder, and power connections on a keyed interface. This arrangement organizes field wiring and helps prevent incorrect connector placement during installation. The housing supports wall mounting, allowing the chassis to be secured directly to a vertical cabinet panel without a separate mounting frame. A front cover guards live parts while preserving access to the connection points required for machine wiring. The delivered module does not include plug-in modules, leaving the internal expansion positions unoccupied for this configuration.
