The 8EI017HWSS0.0700-1 servo drive is produced by B&R Automation for the 8EI Servo Drives series. Within the ACOPOS P3 8EI platform, the controller supplies regulated current to compatible synchronous motors. This control allows a connected PLC to execute deterministic speed and position loops in packaging, conveying, and assembly machinery. The drive converts incoming three-phase power into controlled motor current while processing motion commands and encoder feedback. Its compact arrangement supports installation in automation cabinets where coordinated axis movement and rapid response are required.
The power stage accepts a three-phase supply of 3x 200–480 VAC, allowing operation on common 208 V and 480 V industrial power networks without transformer tap changes. Rated continuous output current reaches 17 Aeff, which is the steady current available to the motor while the drive remains within its thermal limits. Functional safety is provided by the integrated SafeMOTION package with a digital encoder channel. This package supports safety functions such as limited-speed operation and safe torque off when commanded through certified control logic. The drive is configured as a one-axis module, so it controls one connected motor axis. An internal braking resistor dissipates regenerated energy during rapid deceleration and can reduce the need for separate braking hardware in applications whose regenerative loads remain within the resistor’s capacity.
The housing supports wall mounting on a cabinet back panel, allowing the drive to remain securely positioned while maintaining the required airflow around the enclosure. Installers must preserve the recommended clearances so heat can leave the power stage without obstruction from neighboring components or cable bundles. A two-row connector set accommodates power, motor feedback, and input/output wiring through the provided connection points. This connector arrangement provides sufficient contacts for the drive’s standard electrical interfaces and helps keep field wiring organized inside the cabinet. The factory-fitted front cover guards energized terminals against accidental contact during normal operation. The delivered configuration includes no plug-in module, so expansion functions that require an additional card are not installed.
