The 8EI017HWS10.0600-1 is a servo drive module manufactured by B & R Automation for the 8EI Servo Drives series. Within the ACOPOS P3 8EI product group, it controls a permanent-magnet motor by supplying regulated current and voltage so the machine axis follows motion profiles generated by the controller. The device performs coordinated speed, torque, and position control in industrial automation cells used for packaging, material handling, and assembly equipment. Its integrated design combines motor control functions within a compact module intended for installation in an electrical cabinet.
The unit is supplied as a single-axis module for controlling one motor axis. During continuous operation, it delivers 17 A RMS to the motor terminals, providing the sustained current needed to produce torque while keeping the power stage within its thermal limits. Power, feedback, and I/O lines attach through a Connector Set 1 header that uses a single-row format to simplify harness assembly and cable routing. An internal braking resistor absorbs regenerative energy when the driven axis decelerates, reducing the need for an external braking resistor in compact panels. This arrangement also shortens associated wiring runs and keeps the regenerative energy path inside the drive assembly.
The module supports wall mounting, placing the heat sink against a metal backplate while leaving its electrical connections accessible from the front of the cabinet. This mounting arrangement provides a clear convection path that helps keep the electronics within their permitted operating temperature range. The power stage accepts a three-phase supply of 3 × 200–480 VAC, supporting operation with several common industrial mains voltages. Functional safety is provided by a hardwired STO safety circuit connected through the designated safety interface; opening this circuit removes motor torque in less than one drive cycle. The encoder channel supplies the feedback required for controlled motor operation before the safety circuit is activated. The drive uses the standard module option, so it does not require expansion cards for its included control, feedback, and diagnostic functions.
