Product Description:
The 8BVI1650HCS0.008-1 belongs to the 8BVI Servo Controllers series manufactured by B&R Automation. It is a high-power servo controller intended to drive large AC servo motors in coordinated industrial axes where fast torque response and precise speed regulation are required. By supplying regulated DC from a common bus to one motor connection, the unit forms the core interface between the plant-wide DC link and the individual machine actuator.
The controller can deliver a continuous output of 120 kW, while short demand peaks are supported by a maximum current of 330 A eff. A nominal DC bus voltage of 750 VDC feeds the internal IGBT bridge, and energy storage is provided by 3630 µF of bus capacitance to smooth load transients. The bridge switches at 5 kHz, striking a balance between current ripple and switching loss, and it can synthesize output frequencies up to 598 Hz for high-speed permanent-magnet motors. Cold-plate mounting removes heat directly to a liquid-cooled panel so full rating is maintained at the specified bus voltage. The single motor connection simplifies cabinet wiring, and twin plug-in module slots allow encoder, I/O, or fieldbus options to match application requirements. Voltage class HV confirms that the unit is intended for high-voltage DC link operation.
Rated phase current is 165 A under continuous load, and protection is limited to IP20 so the drive must be installed in an enclosure. The housing measures 427.5 mm in width, 317 mm in height, and 212 mm in depth, and it weighs 18 kg. One motor connection point reduces conductor count, while two module slots remain accessible from the front. A cold-plate base, combined with air passages in the chassis, maintains thermal stability and suits cabinet cooling layouts that use rear liquid circuits instead of forced air paths.
