Product Description:
The 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1 Inverter Module supports a single motor connection with 64 kW continuous output power and delivers a continuous current of 88 Aeff. Its peak current reaches 176 Aeff. The nominal switching frequency is 5 kHz with optional frequencies of 10 kHz and 20 kHz.
This 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1 inverter module features switching frequency dependent current derating. At 5 kHz, the current reduces by 1.4 A/K starting at + 41 degrees C. At 10 kHz, the reduction is 0.92 A/K from -5 degrees C, and at 20 kHz, it is 0.56 A/K from -90 degrees C. The continuous current also decreases with installation elevation at a rate of 8.8 Aeff per 1000 meters, beginning at 500 m above sea level. The unit includes a motor holding brake connection supporting 24 VDC output with a tolerance of + 5.8 %. The brake connection provides a continuous current of 4.2 A with a maximum internal resistance of 0.15 Ohms. It includes extinction potential of approximately 30 V and can handle up to 3 Ws per switching operation. The maximum switching frequency for the brake is 0.5 Hz. The motor holding brake interface incorporates built in overload and short circuit protection, open circuit monitoring, and under voltage monitoring. It reacts to open circuit faults at around 0.5 A and under voltage at 24 VDC.
The enable input system of this B & R Automation 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1 inverter module comprises two inputs configured in a sink circuit. Both inputs provide complete electrical isolation both between the input and inverter module and between the inputs themselves. The nominal input voltage is 24 VDC with a maximum rated voltage of 30 VDC. Each input draws approximately 30 mA at nominal voltage. The switching thresholds are defined as low when voltage is below 5 V and high when above 15 V. This 8BVI series inverter module offers high continuous and peak current capacities for demanding motor applications.
Frequently Asked Questions about 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1:
Q: How does temperature affect output current on the 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1 inverter module at higher switching frequencies?
A: At 10 kHz the current derates by 0.92 A/K starting from -5 degrees C. At 20 kHz it reduces by 0.56 A/K starting from -90 degrees C.
Q: Can the B & R Automation 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1 inverter module maintain performance at high altitudes?
A: The continuous current decreases by 8.8 Aeff per 1000m starting from 500m elevation. Power delivery becomes less efficient in elevated installations.
Q: How does the 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1 handle electrical input isolation for enable signals?
A: It includes two isolated inputs configured as sink circuits for enable control. Inputs remain isolated from each other and from the inverter module.
Q: What protections are integrated in the motor brake output of the 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1 inverter module?
A: It features overload short circuit and open circuit detection with under voltage response. Fault triggers occur at 0.5 A for open circuits and 24 VDC for undervoltage.
Q: Is the 8BVI0880HWS0.008-1 inverter module suited for motors with high startup demand?
A: Yes, it delivers 176 Aeff peak current and 88 Aeff continuous. This supports motors with demanding start-up torque requirements and stable continuous load.
