Product Description:
The 8BVI0660HWS0.000-1 servo controller is produced by B & R Automation as a member of the 8BVI Servo Controllers series. Designed for large-frame servomotors, it rectifies the plant supply onto an internal DC link and switches that energy into precision, three-phase waveforms that drive automation axes. Within an integrated line, the module closes current and velocity loops so the higher-level control system can coordinate motion and process timing.
Its power stage delivers a continuous motor current of 66 A eff, translating to a sustained shaft load of 48 kW when paired with suitably rated machines. That current is drawn from a DC bus stabilized at 750 VDC by a 1980 µF storage bank; a separate 32.9 µF input filter damps switching transients before they reach upstream supplies. Carrier pulses are issued at a nominal switching frequency of 5 kHz, while synthesized output frequency can climb to 598 Hz, enabling high-speed spindle or linear motor operation. Overcurrent protection is provided by an internal 250 mA fuse that disconnects the low-voltage control rail.
The energy consumed by control electronics and gate drivers is limited to 48.8 kW under continuous full-load operation, and short bursts can be handled at a peak phase current of 132 A eff for rapid acceleration profiles. Two galvanically isolated low-power outputs each supply 24 VDC ±6% for field sensors, sourced from the same 25 VDC ±1.6% auxiliary input. Environmental integration is simplified by the enclosure’s IP20 protection rating, which is adequate for clean cabinet spaces, and a chassis width of 213.5 mm that lets multiple axes line up on standard DIN rails. Operation is supported at sites up to 4000 m above sea level, and thermal behavior is managed by internal heatsinks that work with forced cabinet airflow.
