Product Description:
The 8BVI0440HWSS.000-1 is a servo controller produced by B&R Automation for the 8BVI Servo Controllers series. Designed for cabinet installation, it drives synchronous motors in automated assembly stations, packaging machines, and handling modules. The controller converts DC bus energy into phase-modulated output, interprets encoder feedback, and exchanges status data with the machine control so that position, velocity, and torque follow command profiles with cycle-to-cycle repeatability. Internal brake management and power diagnostics let the unit coordinate rapid, controlled stops without additional hardware.
The power section connects to a shared bus that is maintained at 750 VDC; this level supplies a stable voltage source for multi-axis systems. A bulk capacitor rated at 990 µF filters ripple and stores energy during regenerative events. Under continuous duty, the bus can deliver 32.5 kW, matching applications with high mechanical throughput. On the motor side, the amplifier provides a continuous phase current of 44 Aeff, corresponding to 32 kW of shaft power, and it can reach a transient 88 Aeff for acceleration peaks. These figures guide drive sizing so that thermal limits are not exceeded during steady load or rapid indexing.
For controlled stopping, the integrated brake supply outputs 24 VDC +5.8% / -0.5% at up to 4.2 A, enabling holding brakes on vertical axes without separate power supplies. Position feedback is processed through the EnDat 2.2 interface at a bandwidth of 6.25 Mbit/s, and encoder cables up to 100 m are accepted without signal repeaters. The inverter gates switch at a nominal 5 kHz; this carrier, together with a maximum fundamental frequency of 598 Hz, supports high-speed spindle or linear motor operation while keeping torque ripple low. Standby losses are 11 W, and the logic stage is powered from a 25 VDC ±1.6% input that is buffered by 32.9 µF of local capacitance for ride-through during brief supply dips.
