Product Description:
The 8BVI0055HWDS.000-1 is a multi-axis servo controller built by B&R Automation as part of the 8BVI Servo Controllers series. The unit conditions DC bus power, regulates phase currents, and synchronizes encoder feedback so that permanent-magnet servo motors follow commanded motion profiles in production lines, packaging machines, and material-handling cells. As a modular drive module, it interfaces with the host PLC over a fiber-optic backplane and provides onboard brake control plus 24 V auxiliary supply distribution, reducing cabinet wiring.
Incoming logic power is stabilized by a 24 V input network rated at 25 VDC ±1.6% and buffered by 23.5 µF of capacitance. The power stage is fed by a DC link held at 750 VDC, smoothed with 330 µF of bus capacitance, and the controller’s continuous power draw reaches 11.19 kW during simultaneous multi-axis operation. Motor speed command bandwidth is aided by a carrier that switches at 5 kHz, while the inverter can deliver output frequencies up to 598 Hz, allowing high-pole motors to run at elevated mechanical speeds. Each motor connector supports 7.6 Aeff of RMS phase current and 5.5 kW of mechanical power. An auxiliary 250 mA fuse protects the 24 V sensor loop, and encoder supply capacity is 350 mA for low-voltage transducers.
Transient demands are handled by a peak phase capability of 18.9 Aeff per motor, permitting short bursts of torque without thermal trip. The integrated brake supply can sink 1.1 A per connection, enabling gravity-loaded axes to stop safely when the DC bus collapses. Command and diagnostic information travel through the real-time network at 6.25 Mbit/s, and position data are accepted from absolute sensors compliant with EnDat 2.2 protocols over cables up to 100 m in length. The controller is suitable for high-speed pick-and-place gantries, indexing tables, and feed drives that require tight position coordination and fast cycle times.
