Product Description:
The 8BVI0055HCS0.000-1 servo controller is produced by B & R Automation as part of the 8BVI Servo Controllers series. This device is a three-phase inverter that converts the shared DC bus energy into controlled sinusoidal output for brushless servo motors. By closing current and velocity loops internally, it delivers precise motion profiles to conveyor axes, pick-and-place gantries, and other coordinated drives within industrial automation cells. The housing is 53 mm wide, 317 mm high, and attaches to a 212 mm deep cold plate to transfer switching heat away from sensitive electronics.
The power stage is energized from a nominal DC link of 750 VDC, and its bulk capacitance of 330 µF smooths regenerated energy and ride-through disturbances on that bus. During continuous operation, the unit can supply a motor phase current of 15.1 Aeff, while transient load steps are covered by a peak capability of 37.7 Aeff. Current vectors are modulated at a carrier frequency of 5 kHz, which helps keep torque ripple low during operation. An auxiliary 25 VDC ±1.6 % supply feeds the control electronics and the integrated brake transistors that discharge the link when overvoltage limits are approached.
The controller is intended for cabinet-mounted servo applications that require sustained output and controlled thermal behavior. With a continuous motor power ceiling of 11 kW, the inverter can drive medium-frame servomotors up to the listed shaft load while maintaining efficiency. Vector control remains stable up to a commanded electrical frequency of 598 Hz, which supports high-speed spindles or linear motors. The open-style enclosure carries an ingress rating of IP20, so it must be mounted inside a switch cabinet where airflow can hold the heat sink below its maximum service temperature of 55 °C. A dedicated 24 V, 2.1 A brake output is provided to release holding brakes during motion without burdening external power supplies.
