Product Description:
The 8BVI0028HWD0.000-1 servo controller is built by B & R Automation as part of the 8BVI Servo Controllers series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit conditions a shared DC bus and feeds two motor outputs so that motion axes can be synchronized, accelerated, and safely braked in industrial automation cells. By integrating power electronics, current measurement, and switching logic in a single housing, it reduces panel space while providing deterministic torque control for conveyors, pick-and-place modules, and packaging machinery.
The controller operates from a 25 V DC logic supply that may vary by ±1.6%, while the internal bus is maintained at 750 V DC through a 165 µF capacitor bank that stores transient energy and smooths load changes. Each motor connection can draw a continuous current of 3.8 A eff and can momentarily reach 9.5 A eff for rapid acceleration. Continuous mechanical output per axis is 2.8 kW. Total power consumption can reach 5.73 kW when both channels are fully loaded. The inverter section switches at a nominal 5 kHz and delivers up to 598 Hz output frequency, enabling high-speed servo motors to run above standard line rates. A discharge capacitance of 0.2 µF is provided so the DC link can be safely bled when power is removed, and standby losses are limited to 8.8 W to minimize heat while the system is idle.
The housing is only 53 mm wide, 317 mm high, and 263 mm deep, which helps the unit fit compact cabinet layouts. An IP20 rating allows installation inside a protected enclosure where accidental finger contact is blocked but forced airflow is still available for cooling. Overvoltage Category III immunity permits connection to fixed industrial wiring without extra surge isolation, and the DC bus capacitance helps keep voltage excursions within the stated limits. The narrow enclosure also supports dense multi-axis arrangements where available mounting space is limited.
