Within an automation cell, the unit simplifies wiring and concentrates feedback processing so that the drive can react to axis position, homing markers, and machine events without external interface boards.
The module records position with a 16-bit counter and applies 4x evaluation, so each quadrature edge is decoded for fine resolution. Up to 8 digital inputs and 10 digital outputs are available, and the channels are arranged in configurable pairs to match different sensor and actuator groupings. Encoder signals are accepted at frequencies as high as 62.5 kHz, allowing stable tracking of fast rotary or linear feedback devices. Physical connection is made through a 12-pin multipoint connector that carries logic lines and the control supply.
