Product Description:

The 8AC112.60-3 communication card is made by B&R Automation. The card can help industrial automation apps by allowing them to acquire signals and connect to other systems. Its main task is to process data and make it easier for parts of a larger system to communicate with each other.

On the upper left corner of the 8AC112.60-3 communication card is a DB9 serial port that can handle either RS-232 or RS-485 contact. Two coaxial connectors, perhaps of the SMA or BNC variety, allow for the input and output of digital and analog signals, respectively. The right side features a gold finger edge connector that can be used to connect to a proprietary bus system or a PCI bus. An integrated Xilinx Spartan field-programmable gate array (FPGA) for logic control and signal processing is one of the primary processors. A number of capacitors and resistors mounted on the card's surface allow it to stabilize voltage and condition analog signals. Data routing and communication are handled by other integrated circuits. The digital and analog portions each have their own power rail, which is maintained via a network of inductors and capacitors. The nominal operating temperature range is 5–40°C, with a maximum of 55°C. Temperatures up to 70°C are tolerable during transportation, and storage is -25 to 55°C.

Using the integrated FPGA, the 8AC112.60-3 communication card enables programmable logic processing. On the circuit board, you can see a Texas Instruments chip that probably acts as a fast analog-to-digital converter or ADC. An edge connector that is specific to this card allows for a bus-level interface with the host system. The power delivery to sensitive signal regions is stabilized by inbuilt filtering components. To ensure compatibility with modular rack-based systems, the card dimensions are in line with conventional board sizing.
