Product Description:
The 80VD100PS.C02X-01 inverter module is produced by B & R Automation as part of the 80VD Inverter Modules series. The unit acts as a single-axis power stage that receives energy from a shared DC bus and generates a controlled three-phase output for a servo motor. Within an automation line, it supplies regulated current and switching functions that are coordinated by the system CPU to position slides, control spindles, or track conveyor speeds. Because it is dedicated to one axis, the module supports compact motion architectures where separate power stages are assigned to individual machine movements. This arrangement separates the central supply from the axis-level inverter stage and supports modular machine layouts.
It can supply a continuous phase current of 8 A, supporting sustained torque production for mid-frame motors, while the internal power electronics dissipate 655 W at full load. Power-up is handled by an inrush limiter that caps surge current at 10 A, and after startup the idle demand drops to 0.5 W while the embedded CPU remains below 8 W. Protection is rated at IP20, so the module is intended for installation inside an enclosed control cabinet. The housing measures 65 × 134 × 95 mm, which supports dense mounting layouts, and a mass of 700 g keeps handling straightforward during installation. Its compact form suits cabinets where several axes are installed side by side. Motor leads may extend to 25 m, giving more freedom when actuators are mounted away from the cabinet.
The inverter modulates its output bridge at a nominal switching frequency of 5 kHz, and during acceleration it can deliver up to 15 A peak to help overcome load inertia. Shaft position data is resolved to 14 bits per revolution, and the resolver interface uses a 10 kHz carrier with 3.4 Veff excitation and up to 50 mAeff reference current for stable angle feedback. The feedback circuit supports accurate commutation and consistent speed regulation across changing load conditions. A DC bus reservoir of 940 µF smooths short-term demand and helps reduce undervoltage trips during rapid current changes. Stable resolver feedback allows the control system to track rotor angle while the current loop responds to speed and torque commands.
