Product Description:
The 80VD100PD.C033-01 is a compact inverter module produced by B & R Automation within the 80VD Inverter Modules series. Designed for multi-axis drives, the unit interfaces with a shared DC link and delivers regulated power to two attached motors in factory automation lines. By converting DC-bus energy into pulse-width-modulated phase currents, it supports precise speed and torque control for synchronous or induction machines used in conveyors, pick-and-place stations, and similar equipment.
The internal DSP runs its current and position loops at a 20 kHz controller frequency, providing short response times to load changes. DC-link stability is maintained by a capacitor bank totaling 940 µF, which helps the module absorb regenerative energy without excessive voltage rise. The IGBT bridge commutates at a nominal switching rate of 5 kHz, which influences PWM resolution and the harmonic content seen by the motor windings. During peak acceleration, the module can deliver up to 30 A peak, while continuous operation is limited to 8 A per phase to keep silicon and winding temperatures within their operating limits. A maximum inrush current of 10 A helps protect upstream fusing during power-up, and the CPU has a maximum power consumption of 8 W. The aluminum housing measures 65 × 134 × 95 mm, allowing dense stacking on DIN rails inside machinery cabinets. Two dedicated motor output terminals simplify wiring for dual-axis mechanisms.
Two differential encoder channels accept an SSI absolute encoder for position feedback from the connected axes. The encoder supply provides 5 V ±5% and up to 250 mA for sensor electronics. Encoder cable runs can reach 25 m without loss of signal integrity, providing routing flexibility on large gantries and other extended machinery. Each connected axis can receive a peak current of 15 A, accounting for the module’s combined peak output across both motor channels. The drive weighs 750 g, which reduces the load placed on cabinet mounting hardware. Its compact dimensions and dual motor connections also help conserve enclosure space without requiring separate inverter modules for each axis.
