Product Description:
B&R Automation's 80VD100PD.C022-14 is an inverter module from the 80VD Inverter Modules series. Designed as a plug-in component of a multi-axis ACOPOS rack, it converts power from the shared DC bus into individually regulated phase voltages for up to two servomotors and their associated brakes. The electronics integrate gate drivers, current measurement, and resolver decoding, allowing the module to provide closed-loop motor control when connected to the required motion controller and power supply. Its modular power stage allows machine builders to scale drive capacity without redesigning the entire control cabinet. The module fits on a 67 mm pitch and uses the system backplane for DC power distribution and communication, reducing additional wiring inside the enclosure.
The control electronics operate from a 24 VDC supply with a tolerance of ±25%. The phase bridge supplies a continuous line current of 8 A and tolerates a peak current of 30 A peak per module. Each motor output is limited to 10.6 A RMS or 15 A peak, while inrush current is capped at 10 A to protect upstream fuses. A link capacitor with a capacitance of 940 µF buffers energy during changing load conditions. The IGBT stage switches at 5 kHz to balance switching losses and audible noise. Motor outputs and brake terminals share the front connector within an IP20 housing intended for installation inside a control cabinet.
Two resolver inputs support position feedback from the connected motors. The resolver carrier operates at 10 kHz with an amplitude of 3.4 V RMS, supporting noise-resistant signal transmission between the motors and inverter. After interpolation, the drive provides an angular resolution of 14 bits per revolution, enabling accurate position and speed control for coordinated machine motion. Motor leads can extend up to 25 m without additional output filters, providing flexibility when arranging motors around larger equipment. The module weighs 750 g, limiting the added load when several inverter modules are installed in the same rack. Shield clamps on the front panel provide continuous bonding and help protect resolver signals from electrical interference caused by inverter switching.
