Product Description:
B&R Automation produces the 80MPF5.250S000-01 as part of its 80M Stepper Motors series. The unit is a hybrid stepper motor that translates digital pulse trains from a drive into incremental shaft rotation, making it suitable for indexers, small gantries, and other motion axes that require precise positioning. By combining permanent-magnet components with laminated iron cores, the motor produces discrete step angles without requiring internal feedback control. The open-loop design allows a compatible drive to control shaft movement by regulating the number and frequency of command pulses.
Its mechanical interface uses a flange measuring 60 mm and carries the size code F, allowing direct mounting to compatible compact gearheads and machine frames without adapters. A three-stack arrangement increases the active magnetic length, allowing the motor to provide more holding torque than a single-stack motor in the same frame. The rotor has no integrated brake, so the load must be held by drive current or an external locking device when the shaft is stationary. The model also has no encoder, which simplifies wiring but limits position tracking to open-loop step counting. Applications that require confirmation of the actual shaft position must use a separate feedback device or another external monitoring method.
On the electrical side, the current reference uses a multiplier factor of ×1 (10^0), so drive settings apply directly to the absolute phase current without additional scaling. The unit belongs to design revision 01, which corresponds to the first design release in the series. Internally, the lamination pack carries code 5 and is paired with the three-stack arrangement to establish the motor’s torque and inductance characteristics. The motor uses standard sealing for operation in routine industrial conditions. It should be protected from direct washdown, heavy oil spray, and other exposure that exceeds the protection provided by its housing. Proper mounting and cable routing also help prevent contaminants from reaching the shaft interface or electrical connections during operation.
