Product Description:
B&R Automation manufactures the 80MPD5.600S014-01 stepper motor as part of its 80M Stepper Motors series. The unit is intended for indexers, small gantries, and other positioning axes where open-loop speed and torque control are suitable for industrial automation. A compatible controller sends discrete step and direction commands to the drive, which regulates current through the motor windings. The resulting magnetic fields move the hybrid rotor in precise angular increments, supporting repeatable positioning without closed-loop commutation.
The motor has no holding brake, which eliminates brake wiring when an axis relies on external clamping or detent torque to retain its position. A drive scaling of x1 (10^0) indicates that the commanded current equals the motor’s nameplate phase rating, so the setup does not require an additional current multiplier. Position feedback is available through an ABR incremental encoder, which provides A and B quadrature channels and a reference pulse for monitoring shaft position at a 400-line resolution. Mechanical attachment uses a 56 mm (NEMA 23) square flange pattern, allowing installation with machine interfaces designed for this common compact frame. The stator uses a three-stack arrangement, which increases its active magnetic length and holding torque without changing the flange dimensions.
The motor is produced in Design Revision 01, identifying the applicable design generation for compatible cabling and parameter data. Its flange size designation is D, assigning the unit to the 56 mm frame used by this model. The motor stacks code is 5, which corresponds to the internal lamination arrangement used for motor selection and torque data. A Standard protection level indicates the basic housing configuration offered for this stepper motor. As an 80MP model, the motor operates with microstepping drives that support two-phase bipolar windings, while its encoder permits independent position monitoring during operation.
