The 7XV116.50-51 remote valve terminal is built by B & R Automation as part of the 7XV Remote Valve Terminals series. It is intended for decentralized switching of pneumatic valves and other 24 VDC loads in automated machinery, allowing the control system to place output modules directly on the machine frame rather than inside a cabinet. This arrangement shortens wiring runs, simplifies installation, and keeps high-density output capacity close to the actuators that must be driven in harsh plant environments. Because the outputs can be mounted near the point of use, cable routing is more direct and long machine runs are reduced.
The module supplies 16 digital outputs, each designed for sourcing operation at an output rail of 24 VDC. Per channel, the electronics allow up to 0.1 A of current, and the high-side driver design includes overload detection so a short on any load does not disable neighboring channels. Fast device actuation is supported by a maximum switching frequency of 100 Hz, which is suitable for typical pneumatic valve cycles and for moderate-speed lamp or relay driving. When mounted directly on tooling, the housing’s IP67 protection rating keeps internal circuits sealed against dust and water jets, eliminating the need for an additional enclosure, while the internal power budget is limited to 1.5 W to control self-heating.
Communication with the host controller occurs through the X2X Link Slave interface, which enters the unit on an M12 bus connector and draws no more than 0.75 W from that link. All load wiring is collected on a 25-pin DSUB header that is secured by the standard 4-40 UNC mounting thread, while system power reaches the board through a dedicated M8 port. Separated bus and load connections help keep network wiring distinct from actuator power leads during installation. The enclosure measures 62 × 70 × 30 mm, permitting placement in tight spaces next to grippers or valve clusters, and the fully populated unit weighs only 125 g, minimizing mass on moving machine axes.
