Product Description:
The 5PP5IF.FPLM-00 is a communication interface module in the B & R Automation 5PP Power Panels series. It functions as the network gateway inside a Power Panel, enabling deterministic data exchange between the operator terminal and distributed I/O or drive nodes through the Powerlink real-time Ethernet protocol. Within machine- or cell-level control structures, it supplies physical ports, memory resources, and diagnostic features that keep the automation runtime environment active.
Electrical load is minimal; the board dissipates 3 W at full activity, easing power budgeting in compact panels. Two dedicated Powerlink ports are provided through a shielded RJ45 hub that supports auto-negotiated full-duplex transfer at 100 Mbit/s over S/STP Cat 5e cabling and meets the 100Base-T Ethernet layer. The integrated hub supports line or star topologies, and the port count of 2 permits daisy-chain or branch wiring. Protocol handling follows Powerlink specification versions V1/V2, and status LEDs report link, collision, and diagnostic states for immediate feedback. Poll-response chaining and configurable ring redundancy are selectable in software to improve network availability, and execution relies on the Automation Runtime system resident in the host panel.
For process data preservation, the module provides 256 kB of remanent variable space that survives reboots, supported by a dedicated battery circuit. Fast temporary buffering is handled by 512 kB of SRAM, and an additional battery-backed SRAM segment safeguards critical information during power loss. Segment extension on the network can span 100 m between active nodes, matching the physical layer limits of the selected cable class. The board also carries a management engine that monitors hub load, enables inline diagnostics through a status register, and grants deterministic response times under poll-response scheduling without exceeding its power envelope.
