Product Description:
B & R Automation produces the 5PP520.1505-B50 operator panel, a member of the 5PP Power Panels series. This unit integrates a display, touch input, and embedded controller functions into a single HMI platform for machine-level control and visualization in industrial automation lines. Its integrated design places operator interaction and control functions in one enclosure, helping conserve space at the machine.
The panel’s 15 in active area uses a TFT module that delivers uniform backlighting and wide viewing angles suitable for cabinet mounting. An XGA native resolution provides 1024 × 768 pixels, enabling detailed graphic objects without scaling artifacts. Input power is drawn from a 24 VDC source, matching typical control cabinet bus supplies and reducing the need for additional conversion hardware. The stainless steel bezel carries a front sealing level of IP66, so jets of water or airborne contaminants striking the operator face do not compromise the internal electronics. This material choice withstands alkaline washdown fluids encountered in food lines. A seamless resistive touch design allows gloved interaction while eliminating overlay joints that could trap particles, and the resistive sensor stack maintains accuracy even when the glass surface is lightly scratched or coated with machining oil.
At the rear, the housing meets IP65, maintaining enclosure integrity when the unit is mounted on swing arms or pendant brackets outside the cabinet. Field connectivity is delivered by one 1 × 10/100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet port for network traffic, two 2 × USB 2.0 sockets for service drives or barcode scanners, and one 1 × RS232 channel for legacy serial devices. An internal interface board slot enables additional bus options, letting the panel adapt to proprietary networks without external gateways. These connections support recipe transfer, local backup, and remote diagnostics from supervisory systems.
