Product Description:
B&R Automation produced the 5PP520.1214-K02 for the 5PP Power Panels series. The product is a panel-mount industrial computer that combines a color display with input interfaces so operators can supervise equipment and adjust parameters directly at the machine. Within an automation line, it serves as the human-machine interface, presenting real-time data to control software and relaying operator commands to field devices.
The front of the panel carries a TFT color display with a contrast ratio of 800:1 and a native resolution of 800 × 600 px. An LED backlight rated for 50,000 h supports long operating cycles, while 81% ± 3% transmittance helps keep touch input visible. The serial 12-bit touch controller scans the surface and routes coordinates to the CPU. The front fascia is sealed to IP65, allowing installation in washdown enclosures. Three USB host receptacles provide access to external peripherals, and the unit also includes a Type I CompactFlash slot and a separate SD card bay for removable storage. Ethernet communication supports 10/100/1000 Mbit/s, allowing the panel to exchange data with supervisory networks at standard industrial speeds.
The display has a diagonal size of 12.1 in, giving operators a clear view of alarms, trends, and process screens. Graphic depth reaches 262,144 colors, which supports accurate rendering of interface elements and machine schematics. The touch layer is analog resistive, so it accepts gloved input and remains usable in the presence of surface contaminants. Communication with legacy controllers is handled through COM1, which is implemented as RS232 for point-to-point diagnostics or barcode input. Behind the bezel, the display engine processes image data without unnecessary complexity and supports stable screen updates during normal operation.
