Product Description:
The 5PP420.0844-K01 is a compact power panel produced by B&R Automation within the 5PP Power Panels series. Intended for decentralized machine control, it combines an embedded controller and a graphical operator interface in one metal housing. By mounting the unit at the point of operation, machine builders reduce cabinet wiring and give operators direct access to runtime data through the integrated touchscreen, making it suitable for packaging, material-handling, and general motion applications. This combined design simplifies system architecture in automated lines and reduces the need for separate operator hardware.
The display delivers a luminance of 400 cd/m², which is high enough for clear viewing under typical factory lighting conditions. Graphics are rendered at 800 × 600 (SVGA), so vector objects and alarm text remain legible without scaling artifacts. A TFT color panel reproduces process graphics, and the capacitive touchscreen accepts gloved input for quick setpoint changes. Inside the enclosure, a processor clock of 600 MHz supports deterministic task scheduling, while 512 MB of flash stores the application, recipes, and audit trails locally. Volatile program data and buffers reside in 256 MB of RAM, allowing trend plots and user interface objects to update smoothly. The metal housing resists mechanical stress and helps dissipate the heat generated by the electronics.
Control voltage is supplied at 24 V DC, which aligns with standard machine power distribution and eliminates the need for step-down converters. The front face carries a rating of IP65, preventing dust ingress and low-pressure water jets during washdown, while the rear remains at IP20 for installation inside a protected cabinet section. Its ARM Cortex-A8 architecture offers low power consumption, supporting fanless operation. The TFT technology, metal housing, and integrated touchscreen provide a sealed yet serviceable operator station without additional protective shrouds.
