The 5PP320.0573-3B operator panel is built by B&R Automation and belongs to the 5PP Power Panels series. It integrates a PC-class processor with an industrial touchscreen display, providing a compact front end for machine sequence control, status visualization, and data entry on discrete or process lines in industrial automation. Because the computing hardware is already embedded behind the bezel, the panel eliminates the need for a separate controller in small to mid-range stations and mounts directly on the enclosure door for integrated machine operation.
At its core, a Geode LX800 processor runs at a clock frequency of 500 MHz, aided by 8 MB of dedicated graphics memory for smooth rendering of vector objects and bitmaps. The 5.7-inch TFT supports a native resolution of 640 × 480 pixels, produces 350 cd/m² of luminance for cabinet-level readability, and can differentiate among 262,144 colors to display gradients and alarm states clearly. A 400:1 contrast ratio also helps maintain legibility under mixed ambient light. The panel stores recipes and application data in 2 MB of flash memory, while serial diagnostics travel over COM1 at 115 kbit/s. Two USB ports allow program download or peripheral connection such as a barcode reader.
A service life of 75,000 h for the LED backlight supports multiyear, 24/7 operation without scheduled lamp replacement. The touchscreen uses analog resistive sensing so it can be actuated with gloves or a stylus in washdown zones. An enclosure rating of IP65 on the front face blocks dust and low-pressure water jets, allowing panel mounting on food, packaging, or machining equipment. Inside, the unit carries 512 MB of system memory for the operating system and user applications, and it draws only 0.54 A from the 24 V DC control supply, keeping heat dissipation low in sealed cabinets.
