The 5PP320.0573-39 operator station is manufactured by B&R Automation as part of the 5PP Power Panels series. It merges control processing, visualization, and user input in a compact HMI so that a machine can be supervised and adjusted directly from the cabinet front without a separate PC or display module. This arrangement reduces panel complexity by combining the control runtime, display, and touch interface in one front-mounted unit. Because the panel performs these functions in one housing, it can present process data, alarms, and operator screens without requiring a separate industrial computer.
Computation is handled by a Geode LX800 CPU that runs at 500 MHz; this clock rate supports deterministic PLC cycles and local graphics rendering. Program variables reside in 256 MB SDRAM, while screen buffers benefit from an additional 8 MB of graphics memory. Boot code and application firmware are stored in 2 MB of flash, and the two USB ports allow local updates and peripheral connection. Visual output appears on a 5.7-inch TFT with a native 640 × 480 resolution, which keeps interface elements clear and easy to read. The panel face carries IP65 protection so washdown spray and airborne dust do not penetrate the electronics. A nominal current draw of 0.54 A lets the unit be supplied from standard 24 V control power, and the enclosure measures 212 × 156 × 55.5 mm, which helps it fit cabinet doors and compact operator stations.
User commands are entered through an analog resistive touch layer that accepts gloved presses, and the backlight delivers 350 cd/m² of luminance for indoor factory lighting. The touch interface is suited to routine screen navigation, menu selection, and acknowledgment functions on equipment operated close to the machine. After roughly 75,000 h of service, the brightness is expected to fall to half, giving the display a long maintenance interval. The assembly weighs 1400 g, so simple VESA or panel-clamp mounting is sufficient to support it during vibration encountered on packaging, printing, or material-handling machines.
