The 5PP320.0571-29 belongs to the 5PP Power Panels series from B & R Automation. This human-machine interface combines an embedded controller with a color touch display to supervise motors, sensors, and safety functions on automated equipment. Mounted directly on a door or machine frame, it displays process status, collects operator input, and relays commands to the plant network, forming an essential link between the operator and the control program.
Processing tasks are handled by the Geode LX800 x86-compatible CPU clocked at 500 MHz, giving the panel sufficient throughput for local visualization and soft-PLC duties. Application variables and runtime data reside in 256 MB DDR SDRAM, while boot files are stored in 2 MB of onboard flash, a capacity suited to compact operating systems and web panels. The Intel 82551ER Ethernet controller provides 10/100 Mbit/s connectivity, and the Elo Serial 12-bit controller scans the analog resistive touch grid on the color LCD. Typical power draw is 10 W, limiting heat generation so the device can be cooled by natural convection inside crowded cabinets. A luminance rating of 200 cd/m² and a contrast ratio of 40:1 keep graphics readable under factory lighting.
The panel face presents a 5.7 in (144 mm) color LCD that renders graphics and alarms at 320 × 240 px. A palette of 512 colors supports status coding and simple trend plots. The touchscreen sits behind an IP65 front bezel that blocks dust, oil, and cleaning fluids when installed flush. White LED backlighting is rated for 50,000 h before brightness drops to half, which helps reduce display-related downtime on continuous-run machines.
