Product Description:
B & R Automation manufactures the 5PP120.1505-37 operator interface panel as a member of the 5PP Power Panels series. Designed for machine-level visualization and soft-PLC control, the unit replaces separate computer and display hardware in compact automation cells. It provides a 15-inch touch screen for parameter entry, hosts an embedded PC platform for real-time logic execution, and links directly to fieldbus networks so that operators can monitor cycle data and acknowledge alarms without leaving the production area. Its aluminum front frame and sealed display allow direct mounting on the enclosure door, giving IP protection from dust and incidental splashes common on factory floors.
Performance is handled by a Geode SC2200 CPU clocked at 266 MHz, paired with 128 MB DRAM so that recipe changes and trend logs can be buffered locally. The operating system and user program reside in 2 MB of Flash, while the controller allocates 4 MB of shared graphics memory to accelerate vector and bitmap rendering. The TFT panel delivers a native resolution of 1024 × 768 across a 15 in diagonal and produces 330 cd/m² of luminance; its half-brightness lifetime is 35,000 h, giving predictable service intervals. One Type I CompactFlash slot is available for firmware updates or extended data storage without opening the housing.
For cabinet designers, the panel draws an average 30 W from a 24 VDC supply and may demand up to 20 A at start-up, so fuse sizing must accommodate the inrush period. The front glass employs Analog Resistive touch technology from 3M, allowing reliable actuation while wearing gloves or using a stylus. Mechanical clearance is set by a depth of 71.5 mm, a height of 330 mm, and a width of 435 mm, simplifying cutout preparation and providing space for heat dissipation. These dimensional and electrical constraints support consistent operation when the panel is integrated into multi-axis packaging machines or process skids.
