The 5PP120.1043-37A panel is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the 5PP Power Panels series. It combines an operator display with an embedded controller so that machine states can be visualized and adjusted from a single front end. Designed for cabinet-front mounting in automated lines, the unit provides touch-based interaction and Ethernet connectivity, making it suitable for PLC visualization, recipe handling, and local data entry tasks. This integrated arrangement helps reduce the need for separate interface hardware at the machine, which can simplify layout in compact control stations.
Internally, the panel uses a Geode SC2200 processor clocked at 266 MHz, which supports routine control and visualization functions. Program variables and runtime graphics are buffered in 128 MB SDRAM, giving the application space for operating data, screens, and process values during active use. Screen content is rendered at 640 x 480 pixels, a VGA format that suits alarm pages, status views, and basic machine graphics without placing excessive demand on the processor. The electronics are powered from a regulated input of 24 VDC ±25%, allowing operation from common control-cabinet supplies. For dusty areas and washdown-adjacent mounting positions, the aluminum front bezel carries a protection level of IP65, so the display surface is well suited for sealed front-panel installation.
The operator interface is a 10.4 in analog-resistive touch screen that supports finger or stylus input even through thin gloves, which is useful on active production floors. Display luminance reaches 350 cd/m², helping maintain image clarity under bright factory lighting, while a contrast ratio of 600:1 keeps menus, values, and symbols easy to distinguish. During full backlight and processor load, the panel draws up to 20 W, which helps limit heat buildup inside smaller enclosures. Onboard 10/100 Mbit/s Ethernet, two USB 1.1 ports, and an RS232 channel support network communication, peripheral connection, and local serial device integration.
