Product Description:
B&R Automation's 5PP120.1043-37 operator terminal belongs to the 5PP Power Panels series and is built to handle both user interaction and PLC-level control within a single housing. By combining a touchscreen, CPU, and field interfaces, the panel gives machine builders a ready-to-mount HMI that supervises sequences, displays process data, and passes commands to drives or I/O modules located on the same network. Its fanless architecture minimizes maintenance in continuous-duty environments and reduces the accumulation of dust that can come with forced-air cooling.
The visualization layer is based on a TFT screen that outputs 350 cd/m² of luminance and a contrast ratio of 600:1, giving clear status feedback under factory lighting. An active area measuring 10.4 in diagonally renders vector graphics and alarms at a native resolution of 640 × 480 pixels, while an analog-resistive 3M touch sensor lets operators wearing gloves navigate menus and acknowledge alarms. The front foil, aluminum frame, and gasket combine for IP65 ingress protection when panel mounted, blocking dust and low-pressure water jets. Typical service life of the backlight before reaching half intensity is 55,000 hours, and the assembly footprint is 323 × 260 × 65.5 mm, so it fits shallow enclosures. A Type I CompactFlash slot enables recipe transfer without opening the cabinet, and two USB host ports accept keyboards or service sticks.
To support the graphic workload, the panel uses a Geode SC2200 266 MHz processor coupled with 128 MB of SDRAM, while program code and retentive data are stored in 2 MB of onboard flash. Communication to higher-level systems occurs over 10/100 Mbps Ethernet, and field power is wired through detachable terminals. The electronics draw a maximum of 20 W from a regulated input of 24 VDC ±25%, allowing the unit to ride through moderate supply fluctuations.
