The L023910 is an embedded industrial PC supplied by B & R Automation within the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. Designed for cabinet or panel integration, the unit serves as the supervisory node in machine-level control networks, hosting HMI software, data logging, and real-time sequencing tasks that require PC-class processing inside an automated line. Within automated plants, the computer replaces traditional PLC hardware when recipe handling, database queries, or protocol conversion must run under a general-purpose operating system.
The computing core is a Intel Core Duo L2400 processor operating at 1660 MHz. Its dual-core architecture carries two execution engines, and performance is fed by a 667 MHz front-side bus that links the CPU to the Intel 945GME northbridge. A 2 MB shared L2 cache stores frequently used instructions to reduce external memory latency. Two SO-DIMM slots accept DDR2 modules with a maximum installed capacity of 3 GB, giving the device adequate volatile storage for soft-PLC tasks and local visualization buffers. Because there are two memory slots, the board can be populated symmetrically to maximize bandwidth or left with one slot open for later expansion. The chipset also offers integrated graphics fallback and exposes the SATA and IDE buses for mass-storage expansion.
The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 draws on up to 224 MB of shared system memory and drives a DVI output capable of 1920 x 1080 at 32-bit color depth suitable for modern 1080p operator panels. Network connectivity is provided by a Realtek RTL8111C Gigabit Ethernet controller that exchanges process data with higher-level control systems. Two SATA channels and one IDE port accommodate solid-state or rotating media, while ACPI 2.0 power management supports S3 sleep states for controlled shutdowns during maintenance cycles.
