Integrating compute, graphics, and storage resources into one enclosure, the unit simplifies cabinet wiring while providing deterministic processing for motion axes and fieldbus networks. This arrangement allows the controller to manage visualization and control tasks in the same cabinet without requiring a separate office-style computer.
An Intel QM77 chipset supports the onboard Intel Core i3-3217UE processor. This CPU runs at a base clock of 1600 MHz across two physical cores and shares 3 MB of Intel Smart Cache to shorten memory fetch latency. Fabricated on the 22 nm process node, the silicon operates within a thermal envelope of 17 W, so convection cooling inside standard control cabinets is generally sufficient. Dual-channel memory sockets accept unbuffered DDR3 modules, and the controller can move data between the CPU and RAM at 25.6 GB/s. Two parallel memory channels allow interleaving for higher throughput, which helps when real-time control tasks and HMI updates run at the same time.
