Product Description:
The 5PC900.TS77-05 industrial PC is produced by B & R Automation as a member of the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. Designed for cabinet mounting, the unit supplies deterministic computing power to programmable logic, motion control, and visualization applications inside automated lines. Its role is to execute control code, manage local I/O, and bridge higher-level networks with machine-level sensors and actuators, thereby acting as the primary computing node in distributed industrial automation architectures.
The computing hardware is built on an Intel Core i3-3120ME processor fabricated with a 22 nm process and matched to the Intel QM77 chipset. The dual-core design operates at a base frequency of 2400 MHz, delivering deterministic cycle times for control loops. Two DDR3 memory slots support up to 16 GB of RAM, and an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 controller shares this pool when rendering HMI screens. High-speed expansion is provided through a USB 3.0 channel, while the onboard PHY sustains 1 Gbit/s Ethernet for time-sensitive fieldbus stacks. The IPC draws a nominal 5.5 A from the 24 V DC supply rail, which helps size cabinet power distribution. A 10 ms buffer time circuit prevents controller reset during short voltage dips.
A 3 MB Smart Cache allows both cores to share frequently accessed code blocks without additional main-memory cycles, and the controller sustains a bandwidth of 25.6 GB/s between the DDR3 interface and the processor ring bus. For operator panels, the Intel HD Graphics 4000 pipeline drives DVI monitors up to 1920 × 1200 pixels and can boost the graphics clock to 900 MHz during animation sequences without interrupting control tasks. The graphics subsystem can handle detailed operator displays while the controller continues executing machine control tasks.
