When installed in a control cabinet, the unit provides deterministic computing power for PLC tasks and can also host supervisory software that bridges fieldbus networks with enterprise databases. This arrangement lets one platform manage machine logic, operator interaction, and stored process records without requiring separate computing hardware.
At the core of the system is an Intel Core i7-3615QE processor mounted on the Intel QM77 mobile chipset. This CPU provides 4 cores operating at a base clock of 2300 MHz, so parallel PLC threads and HMI services can execute without time-slice conflict. The processor shares 6 MB of Intel Smart Cache, letting each core fetch frequently used code with minimal latency. A DMI external bus runs at 5 GT/s, giving the chipset rapid access to I/O controllers and the four SATA ports reserved for mass storage.
