Product Description:
The 5PC820.5X01-K01 industrial automation unit is produced by B&R Automation and belongs to the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. Designed as a wall-mounted control computer, it consolidates fieldbus, network, and local I/O connectivity required for machine-level supervisory tasks. Within an automation cell, it acts as the central processing node that bridges operator interfaces, motion controllers, and higher-level networks.
Incoming power is a stabilized 24 VDC feed, permitting direct connection to standard control cabinet supplies. Two Gigabit interfaces support segmented networking, and the controller offers 10/100/1000 Mbit/s automatic negotiation across its 2 Ethernet ports, allowing simultaneous machine-network and plant-backbone traffic. Five front-facing 5 USB ports rated to the USB 2.0 standard provide removable data logging, peripheral connectivity, or external input support without extra hubs. Serial communication is available through a dedicated Com1 RS232 socket and a flexible Com2 port that can switch between RS232, RS422, or RS485 signaling for legacy drives or barcode scanners. Storage media can be mirrored through a pair of CompactFlash receptacles, and an open PCIe C slot supports local expansion cards. An external HMI can be attached through the Smart Display Link, DVI, or a standard monitor output.
Real-time fieldbus access is integrated as well. One 1 CAN port allows deterministic device communication under CANopen or proprietary profiles, while a dedicated 1 Powerlink port provides cycle-synchronous exchange with distributed servo drives. Non-volatile program and recipe data can be stored on the controller’s 2 CompactFlash slots, allowing local retention of operating files and archived machine data. Multi-protocol serial support on Com2 extends to the noise-tolerant RS232/422/485 standards, enabling long cable runs in factory environments. The unit mounts directly on a panel through its wall bracket, keeps wiring tidy with a single 24 V input, and reserves one PCIe C slot for future fieldbus or vision modules.
