The 5PC820.1505-00 is an operator panel computer produced by B&R Automation within the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. Designed for installation on machine fronts, the unit combines processing, display, and communication functions so that PLC programs and line-level diagnostics can be visualized directly at the production cell. Its role in an automation architecture is to provide a touch-based interface for local monitoring and control while still meeting enclosure requirements common on factory floors.
The display measures 15 in diagonally, giving the screen enough area for multi-window process dashboards. With a native resolution of 1024 × 768, vector graphics and alarm icons render without interpolation artifacts. A luminance of 350 cd/m² keeps the image readable under bright shop-floor lighting, while the contrast ratio of 800:1 helps separate foreground text from background graphics. Color depth reaches 16 million tones, allowing trend curves and status indicators to be differentiated at a glance. The analog-resistive touch layer accepts gloved input, and the LED backlight is rated for 50,000 hours, which helps reduce panel replacement intervals.
For control network integration, two Gigabit interfaces support data rates of 10/100/1000 Mbit/s. The panel also provides five USB host connectors, so external drives or barcode scanners can be attached directly. A serial RS232 interface offers legacy connectivity at up to 115 kbit/s, and the onboard CAN segment maintains a 10 ms buffer time to help prevent message loss during voltage dips. The electronics are powered from a nominal 24 VDC supply that is common in cabinet power buses. When mounted flush to a machine door, the aluminum front attains an IP65 rating, protecting the touch surface against coolant splashes and airborne dust. The panel supports real-time visualization, recipe management, and localized data logging on automated lines.
