The 5PC800.B945-14 is an industrial PC manufactured by B & R Automation for the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. It is intended to sit inside a control cabinet and run soft-PLC, motion, and visualization software that coordinates drives, sensors, and operator panels across a machine line. By combining general-purpose x86 computing with dedicated industrial I/O, the device replaces separate controller boards and simplifies maintenance in automated cells.
The processing subsystem is built around an Intel Core2 Duo T7400 that operates at 2160 MHz. Two execution cores share 4 MB of L2 cache and communicate with the northbridge over a 667 MHz front-side bus. The Intel 945GME northbridge and Intel 82801GHM (ICH7M-DH) southbridge chipset support PCI Express, legacy PCI, and LPC peripherals. Memory resides in two SO-DIMM slots that accept DDR2 modules up to an aggregate capacity of 3 GB, allowing the operating system and real-time tasks to coexist without paging. Real-time scheduling accuracy is aided by a crystal-controlled RTC with 12 ppm tolerance, and deterministic I/O response benefits from the processor’s dual-core design.
Graphical output is handled by the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950, which can allocate up to 224 MB of shared video memory and drive a DVI monitor at a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 with a color depth of 32-bit. Network communication is supplied by the Realtek RTL8111C Gigabit Ethernet controller for high-speed links to SCADA hosts or fieldbus gateways. Local data storage attaches through two SATA channels for solid-state or rotating media, while a parallel IDE port accommodates existing drives used in legacy machine images. This architecture balances graphics, networking, and storage bandwidth so the CPU can focus on deterministic control workloads without resource contention.
