The 5PC800.B945-13 is an industrial PC base module developed by B & R Automation for the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. It acts as the central processor in machine tools and packaging lines, executing control loops, fieldbus communication, and visualization from a single enclosure. The unit employs an Intel 945GME + ICH7M-DH chipset together with an Intel GMA 950 graphics controller so operator panels can be driven directly from the unit without add-on cards.
At its core, the module runs an Intel Celeron M 423 processor that operates at 1060 MHz on a single execution core fabricated on a 65 nm process. A 1 MB second-level cache helps reduce latency between the CPU and external DDR2 memory, while the processor exchanges data with the chipset across a 533 MHz front-side bus. The logic is supported by a 32-bit color pipeline, and the graphics controller can reserve up to 224 MB of system RAM for frame buffering, giving the unit enough headroom for animated HMI screens. Two Serial ATA channels and one parallel IDE connector are provided for solid-state or rotating mass-storage devices, enabling redundant boot media or separate data-logging volumes. System memory uses DDR2 modules, allowing economical sourcing and low power dissipation during continuous operation.
The motherboard exposes 2 DIMM sockets, which accept up to 3 GB of main memory so complex PLC programs and local databases can run without paging to disk. For operator displays, the DVI-I port drives panels at a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, allowing direct connection to full-HD screens without external scalers. Network connectivity is handled by a Realtek RTL8111C Gigabit Ethernet controller, giving the automation PC ample throughput for distributed I/O, SCADA links, and remote access over standard CAT-5e cabling.
