The 5PC800.B945-12 industrial computer is built by B&R Automation and belongs to the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. Designed as a panel-mountable controller, it supplies processing power for PLC logic, motion sequencing, and HMI services inside automated cells. By integrating x86 architecture with field-proven I/O expansion, the unit replaces traditional rack PCs, allowing centralized supervision of conveyor lines, packaging machines, and other equipment that requires deterministic operation.
Processing is handled by an Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 running at a clock frequency of 1060 MHz. The two cores share a 2 MB L2 cache that minimizes memory-fetch latency during cyclic control tasks. The processor communicates with the Intel 945GME chipset over a 533 MHz front-side bus, while an Embedded AMI BIOS supports deterministic boot behavior suited for headless starts. Graphics are produced by the Intel GMA 950 controller, and the digital video interface supports a native output of 1920 × 1080, which is sufficient for full-HD operator panels. Up to 224 MB of system memory can be dynamically assigned to the GPU, reducing the need for a discrete card when rendering vector profiles or status dashboards.
Expansion and connectivity are oriented toward compact installations. The board uses 2x SO-DIMM sockets and accepts up to 3 GB of system memory, giving enough headroom for soft-PLC tasks, protocol stacks, and local data buffering. Mass storage attaches through 2x SATA channels for solid-state drives, while an additional 1x IDE port maintains compatibility with legacy flash modules. The Realtek RTL8111C Ethernet controller offers gigabit bandwidth for deterministic fieldbus tunneling, and an analog RGB output can reach a maximum resolution of 2048 × 1536 @ 75 Hz when driving supervisory monitors. These interfaces support networking, visualization, and local data handling without external expansion cards.
