Product Description:
The 5PC800.B945-11 is an industrial PC-class controller produced by B & R Automation for the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. Mounted in a control cabinet, it supplies deterministic logic execution, data acquisition, and operator visualization for automated machinery, consolidating multiple control roles into one compact computing node. This arrangement reduces the need for separate hardware when a machine requires control, data logging, and a local display in the same enclosure. It can serve as a central computing platform for machine control and operator interaction within one cabinet location.
At its core is the Intel 945GME chipset, which synchronizes memory, graphics, and peripheral buses. The board carries an Intel Core2 Duo L7400 CPU whose dual cores run at 1500 MHz, allowing real-time tasks and background processes to run in parallel. Each core accesses 32 kB of L1 cache, while a unified 4 MB L2 cache reduces external memory reads during larger workloads. A front-side bus clocked at 667 MHz links the processor to system RAM and I/O controllers, helping maintain predictable PLC scan times. Network communication is provided by a Realtek RTL8111C Gigabit Ethernet PHY, giving low-latency links to remote I/O racks and supervisory SCADA layers.
Visualization tasks are handled by the integrated Intel GMA 950, which borrows system memory and supports a 32-bit color palette. The DVI output reaches a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080, enabling direct connection to high-definition operator panels. Two SO-DIMM sockets accept DDR2 modules, and total installed capacity is capped at 3 GB to match the 32-bit addressing of the chipset. Mass storage attaches through two SATA channels and one IDE port, allowing the system image and process data to be stored on separate media. The graphics engine shares main memory instead of using a dedicated video card, which supports local display duties without adding extra expansion hardware.
