It replaces separate PLC, HMI, and gateway hardware in production lines. It is intended for cabinet installation where ambient conditions favor fanless embedded computers. This arrangement allows one enclosure-mounted unit to support machine operation while remaining close to drives, I/O, and other control hardware.
Its processor is an Intel Core2 Duo T7400 built on a 65 nm manufacturing process. The dual cores operate at 2160 MHz, enabling parallel execution of control threads, while the 667 MHz front-side bus aligns processor and chipset signaling. A 32 kB L1 cache handles immediate instruction fetches, and a 4 MB shared L2 cache buffers larger data blocks to reduce memory latency during deterministic cycles. System memory is provided through two SO-DIMM sockets that accept DDR2 modules, and the configuration can reach 3 GB for larger PLC or HMI applications without paging. The architecture also supports symmetric multiprocessing so both cores can share access to the memory controller during simultaneous control and visualization tasks.
The module attaches to the Intel 945GME / Intel 82801 GHM (ICH7M-DH) chipset, which coordinates peripheral traffic and exposes graphics and storage lanes.
