Product Description:
The 5PC800.B945-02 is an industrial PC produced by B & R Automation as part of the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. The unit serves as the central computing element for machine control, data collection, and visualization tasks within automated production cells. Its embedded construction and extended-temperature components allow the computer to be mounted directly in control cabinets, where it interfaces with PLC I/O modules and fieldbus networks to coordinate real-time motion, safety, and process functions.
The system is powered by an Intel Core2 Duo U7500 processor. This low-voltage dual-core CPU provides deterministic multitasking for HMI threads and control loops. A base frequency of 1060 MHz sets the minimum instruction rate available under worst-case thermal conditions, while power-saving states scale throughput when the load is light. The processor relies on 2 MB of shared L2 cache to store recently used code and data close to the cores, reducing external memory latency during cyclic operations. Fabricated on a 65 nm process, the CPU balances heat dissipation against computational density and supports fanless enclosure designs. Main memory uses DDR2 technology, and this synchronous interface matches the Intel 945GME chipset for reliable refresh timing at industrial temperatures.
Two DIMM sockets accept up to 3 GB of total RAM, accommodating large recipe files and historical trend buffers without swapping. For operator panels, the DVI output drives screens at a maximum of 1920 x 1080, which is sufficient for detailed SCADA graphics. Display signals originate from the integrated Intel GMA 950 controller, which dynamically allocates up to 224 MB of system memory for frame storage. Plant-level networking is handled by the Realtek RTL8111B Gigabit Ethernet controller, supplying high-bandwidth connections to MES servers and remote diagnostics. Two SATA channels and one IDE port support solid-state or hard disk storage so the operating system, log files, and recipe databases can be separated.
