The 5PC600.X855-05 is an industrial computer unit produced by B&R Automation as part of the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. Mounted in control cabinets, this fanless computer serves as the central processing component for machine control, data collection, and operator interface tasks across automated lines. With its integrated processor, storage connectors, and fieldbus-ready design, the unit replaces separate PLC CPUs and industrial PCs, simplifying installation and long-term maintenance within distributed manufacturing cells.
Its core is an Intel Celeron M processor clocked at 1000 MHz. A front-side bus running at 400 MHz transfers data between the CPU and DDR memory while keeping thermal load within the limits of sealed enclosures. The on-die L1 cache is 32 kB, reserved for immediate instruction and data reuse, and the second-level cache is 512 kB for larger working sets that reduce external memory latency. Fabricated on a 0.13 µm process node, the silicon lowers power dissipation. The Intel 82855GME and 82801DB chipset pair links peripheral buses, boot firmware, and power management features required for 24/7 duty.
System memory can be expanded up to 1 GB of DDRAM, giving motion-control applications enough space for recipe tables and trend archives. For graphical visualization, the integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 engine allocates up to 64 MB of video memory and supports a maximum color depth of 32-bit, enabling clear rendering of SCADA screens without discrete GPUs. Dual IDE ports with UDMA 100 allow solid-state or rotating drives to stream process data continuously, and the presence of an AMI BIOS bootloader, floating-point unit, and MMX/SSE2 instruction extensions ensures compatibility with real-time operating systems used in the manufacturer’s Automation Runtime environment.
