The 5PC600.E855-00 industrial computer from B & R Automation belongs to the 5PC Industrial Automation Units series. It is engineered as a compact controller and operator-interface host for machine builders, combining CPU, graphics, and storage subsystems in one DIN-rail-mountable module. Installed in a control cabinet, the unit runs real-time operating systems that coordinate motion, safety, and process tasks while delivering localized visualization to the plant floor.
At the core, an Intel Pentium M processor fabricated on a 0.13 µm process executes instructions at 1100 MHz and communicates with system logic over a 400 MHz external bus. A hierarchical cache arrangement provides 32 kB of L1 and a larger 1 MB L2 segment, minimizing main-memory access during deterministic cycle times. The board accepts up to 1 GB of DDRAM, so HMI binaries and control kernels can remain resident without paging. Instruction-set support for MMX and SSE2 accelerates signal processing, while the dual-chipset pair, Intel 82855GME and 82801DB, manages memory, peripheral, and graphics traffic through the DVO 2.0 12-bit DDR interface.
Video output is driven by Intel Extreme Graphics 2, with frame storage up to 64 MB allocated from system RAM and a maximum color depth of 32-bit for operator panels.
